Seems reasonable to me. On the Cybook, I currently use Calibre's "save to disk" function (along with a batch file that strips out the non-mobi files) and sort my library by path -- to get a proper author sort on the device.
I don't do "news" on the device -- but if I did, I would want it in a separate directory (and would probably want that directory to use a special character so that the news "books" would show up first when sorting by path).
