I've tried just about every setting I can on these apps. Night mode, dimmer light, brighter light, various backgrounds (green, sepia, etc.) — I can never make it comfortable for my eyes. I fully realize that not everyone is the same. I also have issues with front-lit eInk screens — but I don't have these issues with eInk and my own external lighting.
