And that's fine - but after two or more years of using their Kindle when the battery starts to go I wouldn't be surprised if most folks just elect to replace their Kindle instead of even bothering with replacing the battery. Heck just look at the number of people who elected to replace their perfectly fine K1 with a K2...

2) The SD card is used..........I keep all my books on it, rather than the K....now, if my reader should crap out on me, and I have to replace it, the books are on the card, and easily transferred.
You use it - but I'm shocked at the number of people who complain about the loss of the card and then follow it up with "I've never used the card but it's nice to have it." The thing is, there's no difference between backing your books up on your computer than there is backing it up on the card. It could even be argued that it's safer to back your books up to the computer because if your Kindle should die while writing to the card it can corrupt ALL the files on the card - something that's not a risk when backing them up to the computer. I've actually had a device corrupt an entire card...

3)Whatever reports you've heard about the K1 being 'uncomfortable to hold/, are, in my opinion, overblown.
It takes all of 5 minutes to figure out how best to hold it comfortably (and there is more than one way)with either hand, or both, and without pushing the 'next page button on either side. With or without a case.
Having never held a K1 I don't know if that's even true - but when I considered getting a reader ergonomics was a concern about all of them. I used enough poorly designed devices that this was a concern for me. Considering that an e-reader is a device that I'd probably hold 99% of the time having an uncomfortable device was a definite concern. Comfort however is in the hand of the holder. What's comfortable for you may not be to me.

I've got a K2 and find it comfortable and enjoy using- but I'm not thrilled by the overall ergonomics. I'm not happy with where the buttons sit in relation to how I like to hold the device, but that's how it sits in my hand. How it sits in your hand may be totally different.

I'm also not trying to say that the K1 is a bad device - I don't think it is and I don't think that those who bought one made a mistake. But for somebody trying to decide whether or not to buy a new K2 or a used K1 they need to decide the value of the differences between the devices are to them. Along the same line the fud that some users are spreading aren't necessarily putting the differences in the proper perspective.
