That is what it sounded like--I already had it on my library wish list before it came up here, because of the interesting blurb. My reluctance now is probably based mostly on the spoilery aspect of being aware that there's some edging into SF territory. And because reading it feels like a homework assignment hanging over my head, and I'm putting it off till the last minute.
