Uninstalling does NOT remove configurations or Libraries
Since you made no changes: NOTE, this removes ALL plugins, and user settings for Calibre
open the config folder (Use Preferences:Miscellaneous:Click the bottom button)
LEAVING the folder open in the OS. EXIT CALIBRE
Now, empty the folder (or go up 1 level and remove the calibre folder
Start calibre. It will create a fresh copy of that folder.
Do your test. If it passes, there was a corrupt setting.
If it Fails... report back. Kovid will probably ask for a Calibre Bug report with metadata.db attached
