But when it comes to out metadata and most software, there's only one spot for the author.

This is where I'm going to say, use the right tool for the job.

I'm looking at the metadata for one of my comics and I have

Writer
Penciler
Inker
Colorist
Letterer
Cover Artist
Editor (multiple people here)

Calibre is not what you want for comics.
