Most devices from E Ink have glass screens on the front of the device and work very well. The E Ink Mobius screen has a flexible backing on the display to avoid breakage of the screen making it more rugged. The front (top) of the display could be either, plastic or glass. A front glass is thicker and less likely to break than the back.
