A couple of facts make me wonder if that is the answer.

One is that in the past, when I was eligible, I got the advertisement for the sale on the opening page. If I wasn't eligible, I didn't. This time I got the advertisement.

I did see some $5.95 audiobooks, but there were just a handful of them, if memory serves me correctly, they were marked down significantly in price, however.
