Just connect to WiFi and do a sync. The firmware queries the Kobo server to check if there is an update available and will download and install it. If you are using a Windows PC or a Mac, you can also use the Kobo desktop application to do the update.

Note, the availability of an update is based on several things. The affiliate used and location in the world are important. But, all affiliates and locations should be offering at least firmware version 4.9.11311.
