It works fine using a Nexus 5X charger (USB-C to USB-C), though others have reported problems using various USB-C to USB-C to chargers.
Apparently if you need to charge the device from a newer Macbook, you need to use a USB-C to USB-A cable, and an adaptor to plug the -A into the Macbook(!)
