Ambrose Pratt (1874-1944) was an Australian journalist and novelist, author of some 30 novels and perhaps as many non-fiction titles.
This novel hovers between science fiction and fantasy, with themes such as invisibility, a living (or perhaps not living) mummy, and clairvoyance (all of which can be found in sf literature).
A wealth British Egyptologist unearths the mummy of Ptahmes, a 14th dynasty priest, and many strange events follow as the mummy is removed to the UK.
With four art nouveau illustrations by Louis D Fancher (1884-1944).
The text source is US Library of Congress, and was verified against an excellent PDF which also provided the images. I have located the illustrations as close as possible to their location in the book.
It should be noted that the leading characters have a very British Empire attitude to other cultures.
