I can assure that I am not disagreeing with them about
anything (as I am sure they will confirm shortly). I'm not entirely certain, to be honest, why you're having such a difficult time understanding the distinction between a cover PAGE and a cover IMAGE.

PAGE should not be included in an epub you upload to KDP.
But that has nothing to do with a cover IMAGE being present (and properly marked as such and resolution-compliant per the Kindle Publishing Guidelines) in the epub--which is allowed and encouraged.
