I wouldn't live with it if was me. If Amazon is willing to exchange it, I would find a way to do it. Especially now that you have another eReader to experiment with. If you patch your Kobo you can make advanced features available for the publisher's default also. You can also find some nice, dark fonts to add to it. I'm using DejaVu Serif E-Ink and Constantia — which I found somewhere on this Forum.
