In my case, the only books working right now were bought 4+ years ago, if not more; anything more recent and I get the error mentioned above. It makes me think more of a server problem, to be honest.
My ADE is also updated to the current software version (4.5.8) and I still get that error. If it were a DRM format change I would expect problems with DRM removal software, not with ADE.
