I got the top up to 4000 points to on Friday, and the timing was good cause my membership ran out today. I couldn't see how to renew my membership with the points, but saw that auto-renew was enabled so I figured it would auto-renew the membership with the points. This morning I got an email stating I got charged $10 for the renewal.

I contacted Kobo through the chat, and within 30 seconds got through to someone. They were able to reverse that charge, which came from a gift card, and cancelled the VIP, then I was able to purchase the VIP using the points. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish, but now I have the membership using the points they gave.
