That's a shame Amazon won't try to send to a location that is more secure for you. Each time a package is lost of stolen it costs them, so you would think they would at least send it to a Amazon locker.
As far as the device I agree it needs to be replaced, that's a bad battery. It's a new device so they should replace it. Even if they send a refurbished device, I would take it. These devices still have new like batteries so chances are the refurbished will last much longer than the battery in the one you have now.
I would go into the chat helpline. I find them to be helpful. I like to write things out and read each word they say. Then you have a record of what was said. You can always ask for a supervisor also.
