All solidarity greatly appreciated, issybird. But really, if your water is unsafe to drink, then buy water. But otherwise, might I suggest a Reverse Osmosis filtration system? Yes, the upfront cost is more than 50p. But they're not all that expensive, and over time? Both cheaper and superior. 4-5 stage systems on Amazon are selling for $125 to $240 and will provide somewhere on the order of 50 gallons per day. You can even include installation for about the same amount as the hardware, but it's not rocket science and they fit quite comfortably under the kitchen sink.
