Is there any help in downloading books from archive org and getting them into a format you can keep?

For their lending they download in pdf and you have to install adobe digital editions.

I think digital editions interferes with calibre if you're using the plugin to strip drm doesn't it or something?

anyway... any information on the whole thing generally?
