Foot Locker is not "Woolworth's," it was originally a division of the original F.W. Woolworth Company. But the current Foot Locker came out of the Woolworth Corporation, a separate company, created in 1988 by the Woolworth "suits." Obviously it was their "lifeboat" for when F.W. Woolworth department stores collapsed completely (which happened in 1997). So, yes, the suits looked out for themselves while their company foundered.

I miss Woolworth's and Kinney Shoes (where Foot Locker originally came from). I've never been a customer of Foot Locker — nothing personal, I just don't buy expensive tennis shoes.
