I'm sort of on-strike against paranormal mysteries, have been for a long time, but I did like Harris' Aurora Teagarden series, and at this price may give the series a try. It's certainly popular enough to wonder why, and this is a pretty cheap way to check it out...

Oh, and also Harris' Harper Connelly series, also listed at SYKM, which @maddz spotted (4 books): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?p=3733355

OK, the Aurora Teagarden, Lily Bard and the Harper Connelly series are sort of prequels to the Midnight Texas series. They appear to be in the same universe as the Sookie Stackhouse series. It helps to read the earlier series to understand some of the dynamics of Midnight Texas. Aurora Teagarden and Lily Bard are straightforward crime with no overt supernatural elements. Harper Connelly is much more urban fantasy, as is Midnight Texas. Although romantic elements feature in all the stories, I would not describe them as romances at all.
