Now, for my second nomination I put forth
Careful He Might Hear You by Sumner Locke Elliott. I think it looks a little different than the norm for us and it's an Australian classic. It won the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 1963 and is based on the author's own experience as a child. It's 304 pages.
