Different modes of operation would be nice indeed but quite unnecessary if iRex delivers what they promised: good power management.
Just like tribble mentioned, if you dont use it(the feature) turn it off. This device is not so complex as a laptop where you can have different levels of power saving; It's just a matter of making the best out of the hardware.
The power managment feature is an ongoing process....they have made progress but they're not yet there.
