I do 95% of my reading on a Kindle Oasis with 7" screen. I vastly prefer front lit e-ink over backlit tablets for long reading sessions. I've used a Paperwhite also, and for about a year used a Kobo Glo HD, both have front lit e-ink screens also.
For magazines I use one of my iPads. Once in a blue moon a book I want to borrow from my public library will not be available in Kindle format, then I read it on my iPad mini or iPhone 7+.
I read every night before bed in a dark bedroom, and frontlit e-ink is MUCH easier on my eyes. I can read 1-2 hours with no problem. I can only read on my phone or mini for 20 minutes tops in a dark room, even with the screen light turned way down. White text on a black background doesn't work for me...it's like little shards of harsh light.
Books used for study, like a study bible, I do use my iPads as navigation is generally much better, faster, etc. on a tablet.
