Certainly not my first attempt.
I've the KA1 for quite some time, with KSM08 installed almost immediately after I've recieved it. No problems where encountered with KSM08.
The USB problem started (I don't recall if immediately or not) after KSM09 installation, somehow disapeared, and now it's here again.
And to your questions :
- it is certainely not my first attempt with KSM USB connection
- it used to work with no problems
- in between success and failure, KSM09 happened.
- "USB support: disabled" does not change.

This is all expected behaviour. When you enable usb support the user partition will be unmounted. nickel, koreader, the power off image and so on are dependent on files located at the user partition.

Good to know.
