Was this your first attempt to enable usb from KSM? Did it work previously and stopped working at some point? What happened in between? Or, if you never tried before, do you know what do expect? In the info box the message "USB support: disabled" should change to "USB support: enabled". The pc should then be able to treat the device as an usb storage device.

This is all expected behaviour. When you enable usb support the user partition will be unmounted. nickel, koreader, the power off image and so on are dependent on files located at the user partition.
