Actually, these modes should not be necessary.
If the power management works as intended, then all should work for any situation as wanted.

- pen needed? take it out, power gets consumed, if not leave it in, power off.
- wlan and lan? connection needed? no, then power down the devices.
- need lots of computing power? no? go to 33 MHz.
- Have been idle for ages? go to suspend mode.

I still hope, iRex can manage that. The biggest problem i see is the software side. Trying to make standard desktop applications work efficient on a mobile device is not an easy task. There should be lots of prerendering pages, even on disk if necessary, keeping lots of pages in memory (so no diskusage is needed) and reduce rendering time, best if just little power is needed for consequential page turns.

But if thats not going to happen, then they better give us different operatin modes
