Are you referring to the footer or the blank lines left by widows/orphans? Kepub does not respect widows/orphans setting so the blank space at the bottom of the page will vary a lot less than unpatched epub. As you likely already know, one of the epub patches originally implemented to correct a bug with very long paragraphs causing page breaks at random is still there since a side effect is to disable widows/orphans.
