Why do you need to exclude extensions?

I've been using MS Defender and MalwareBytes Pro since I migrated from XP and Vista in 2009. They don't tread on one another's toes, and they've each found things that the other didn't, and they are unobtrusive. I don't exclude anything from them and I don't see any impact on performance.

My average internet download speed is about 10Mbps and I use a dedicated download manager. So, I wouldn't notice an extra second or two to scan a new file that took several minutes to download.
