I'm quite pleased with my Gen 2 Dots now that Amazon added an equalizer. I noticed a marked improvement in the sound after I maxed out the bass and midrange.
Bottom line - I will not be upgrading to the new Gen 3 Dots.

I have no plans to upgrade any of my Echo devices until they quit working. I'm currently using a Dot Gen 2 and two Taps. (I think Amazon doesn't include the Tap under the Echo category, but I do.) I also have an Echo Gen 1 that is boxed up and collecting dust on a shelf as I have no current need for it. I am satisfied with all of them so no need to even consider any upgrades right now.
