It's not equally ridiculous, and you know that, @DNSB; Kobo bought a smaller competitor that offers features its largest competitor has had for close to a decade but that Kobo itself doesn't offer. Ancient ebook readers -- as I said, Rocket Ebook, and its RCA descendants -- offered landscape mode. Kindle (the market leader) has landscape mode; Tolino (tiny market share) has landscape mode; Kobo, Tolino's parent company, does not. Further, Kobo and Tolino -- the big brand and the small -- both offer 7.8" E Ink devices (with enough screen real estate to show two columns of text); Kindle isn't even competing in that space, but Kobo, the big brand, doesn't offer landscape, and Tolino, the small brand does. Beware of false equivalency ("equally ridiculous"); it's a trap, old boy, and deployed too frequently leads to one being totally discounted.
