21 days is plenty unless you are a VERY slow reader.
and you can renew the loan(s) for another 21 days as often as you like, unless there is a queue of other readers waiting for the book
also, the clock does not start until you actually download the book from the library.
i think, with overdrive, you can enable check this out automatically when available, for books you have on hold, but still the 21 days will not start until you complete checkout and place a licenced copy onto a licenced device
