“Oblivious” doesn’t really go with being ominously lowered over. In context, that reads to me like “his ship was dwarfed by the huge battleship in the next bay, but he didn’t even notice it.” Size and capability, yes, but no perceived threat. To the contrary, the mood is bright and optimistic.
