[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true
MyWords=true

However, when I go to Settings > Reading settings

There is no info on 'show header and footer' to enable full screen.

Also, when I highlight a word, there doesn't appear to be any way for me to add it to a list of words I've looked up.

{deleted, just too much to repeat}

Also, of strange note... I have since finished another book since 'Ready Player One', but it still shows Ready Player One as the last book I've finished. Additionally, I changed my power off time to 30 minutes, and it still shows 60 minutes (which I had set it to earlier today). I also see that it is set to display a button to access 'Release Notes' for the current firmware, but the button is missing under Device Settings.

I have since turned off my device and turned it back on, but no effect. Is it not reading/syncing with this file?
I just tried adding your two lines on my Aura One and got the show headers/footers and Add to My Words so the first thing that comes to mind is what editor did you use to edit Kobo eReader.conf (I seem to remember you are a Mac user but just in case)? If under Windows, was it an editor that is Unix end of line aware? Notepad++ is my choice for Windows. If you are using Linux or Mac OS X, pretty much any plain text editor will work but most of the WYSIWYG editors will not (I think TextEdit works as long as you save as plain text).
