koboy: it's exactly what I did. The first one had not more than 20 books. The second one had 4. Down to 1 now

Davidfor: thanks for the answer. I wonder why Kobo told me something that is not true. As for the cover, it could've been the case but I am putting my kobo to sleep myself, as I turned off the auto wake/sleep. So it can't be the case now.

So, second device in a row with a bad battery? Could that be it? I would be very unlucky... what do you suggest? Exchange it again?
