Unprecedented heat wave in Sweden with extreme (for Sweden) drought and enormous forest fires.
Sweden is burning.
Huge forest fires. The worst forest fire situation ever. Firefighters have given up attempts to put out some of the largest fires, they are too big to be extinguished. Instead attempts are being made to control the fires to protect villages and towns and to reduce the spread of the fires. Help from other parts of EU and Scandinavia is already here and more is arriving. (Thanks!!!) Helicopters, firefighters, aircraft. Where I live there was some rain earlier this week. Hopefully there will be no fires here. Still warm and very dry. The grass is brown and the leaves on some trees are starting to wilt.
Strange, I'm more used to reading about troubles and catastrophes elsewhere...
