There wasn't much of interest to me on this years Prime day. I've got a Fire HD8 tablet. I've got a Paperwhite. I've got several Echo Dots. And I've got several USB quick chargers (both battery and plug-in). These four things that were on sale would have interested me ... except I already own them.
  • I picked up the 99 cents for 3 months Kindle Unlimited subscription.
  • And the 99 cents for 4 months Amazon Music subscription.
  • Bought two eBooks, the first to generate the 30% credit that I then applied to the second.
  • A $25 gift certificate for myself to use later, so I could get the $5 credit.
  • And of all things, a cheap infrared thermometer so I can check the temp of my cast iron skillet before beginning to cook something. Totally unneeded, but I convinced myself that I had to buy something, and this was about the only thing this year that made me look twice.

Quite the dull year for Prime Day 2018. Personally, I would characterize it as a total flop. It's funny that Amazon's servers crashed. Looking at the mostly useless sale offerings, I would have expected the servers to be 99% idle. You'd think for a successful Prime Day, Amazon would want to put a few things on sale that people might actually want to buy. Alas, they did very little of that this year.
