So what's with the blinky ads on so many websites? Why did so many of them switch from animated gifs (easily stopped by hitting the Escape key) to flash movies (blocked with special software only)?
While I'd love to think that ads for ebooks will be like ads in older paperbacks, not ads in magazines... I certainly don't have any faith in the marketing/advertising industry to distinguish between suggestions ("here's a nifty thing you might like to buy") and harassment ("if you want to keep reading, you'll need to flip through four pages of our special content").
