I used 22-ga solid, figuring I'd plug a standard female header cable on it, and just insulate and leave it in place when I buttoned back up. I assume this is the end of the experiment for *this* particular PW3, unless someone can tell me another place to access that trace?

There are on the back too, just opposite of the pads you tore off. They are beefier there too.
But you cannot really leave those hooked up, so you will have to clean the sodler off before you re-assemble the kindle, but you can jailbreak with it semi disassembled.

You do have to have the screen connected for the kindle to poot, but you can use electracal tape and set everything back in place loosely, to do this part. but the solder is too thick to let you screw everything back together properly.
