Suggestion number 3 could cause even more issues. If the spammers cannot create new threads, then maybe they'd tack their spam onto existing threads and that would make it a lot harder to deal with as the spam won't be seen until people go into seemingly spam free threads. Then we would have to report the spam. It would be more of a hassle overall. At least with new threads, the spam is a lot easier to see and kill.

I have a suggestion that might help if it could be implemented. When a user is banned, an option to delete all posts and all threads started by this user. That way, all the spam threads would go at once for each username.
