I use Amazon's e-mail "convert" service, which comprises these three simple things:
1. address the e-mail to your kindle's e-mail address.
2. e-mail's Subject is the single word "convert" (without the quotes, of course).
3. Attach the PDF file. (No need to have anything in the e-mail body.)
Send, wait a bit, the converted PDF appears on your Paperwhite

I also use k2pdfopt, mostly for converting two-column PDFs, and set the output to landscape. I then hold the Paperwhite sideways when reading. Just about all PDFs are readable if you have good eyesight. Will probably be wonderful on the 7" Oasis 2.
