Funnily enough, Tristram Shandy (along with Ulysses of course) has also defeated me twice, so I'm not going to bother trying it again.
I couldn't pin down what it was either that made it so boring as it's supposed to be very witty.
And I wonder, has any of the francophones here finished Proust :-)
I did it as a special subject in my degree but never actually read it all. :-(
