In the calibre conversion settings under "Page setup" you can change the "Output profile" to have calibre downscale images. You would have to experiment to find one that reduces the size of the resulting KFX file enough to prevent a crash of your kindle while providing quality that is acceptable to you. Or you could just not use KFX format for this book. That is my recommendation.
again I hope that better explains I was not talking about downsizing the images, anyway I hope it better explains here , I understand that also an option to get jpeg images smaller but was not at all what I was talking about in first post. I understand that you can downsize images sometimes with Page setup and output profile but I don't notice much of a change when I change the output profile at all when converting from epub to either azw3 or kfx formats , I was not talking about page setup or output profile at all in my first post.

big size resolution jpegs maybe but sometimes the smaller resolution images that maybe have big sizes because of higher quality settings in them in which case, jpeg recompression would be required maybe.

this I was talking about was the built in epub and azw3 editor feature, in its menu

when you right click and Select Edit book from Calibre, under that is the feature for only editing epubs and azw3 files called from the "Tools menu" , "Compress Images Loselessly" clicking on Enable Lossy compression of JPEG" images below that is an box called "Compression Quality" default 80, but I changed the value to between 40-60 something like that their, settings like 30 or so you start to notice spots in the jpeg images, or at least when I wear my reading glasses that I noticed artifacts more in the recompressed jpeg images.
