(phew, this is a lot of reading. I started back in November with HOTB for the book club, then continued on to finish them all.)
There are nine books in the collection. 4 are full length books, of which two are very similar, The Sign of the Four and The Valley of Fear. The Hound of the Baskervilles was certainly the best of the lot.
It also seemed to be that the stories in The Case-Book were very weak. Conan Doyle's forward seemed to point to the fact that he was writing this more to appease his fans than anything else.

You see but you do not observer by Robert J. Sawyer (you can find it on Fictionwise) that you might like. It really puts a different perspective to what you've just said
