I haven't seen any other feature via Calibre or another any plug-ins that allows this for the mentioned metadata (except yours but it requires epubs).
Having a book without actual formats is ok. I use such entries for many things.
This is a library management need. As I said, I'll spare you all the details and why's. I was just hoping there would be a way to do this easily. I tried it with books, but there was an error. I could take many steps and do each in small intervals, but this would cut out the need for all of that and be efficient. Just consider
