This plugin is specifically for creating merges of EPUBs. Creating a merged library book record is secondary--just some place for the new EPUB to go.

I suppose that skipping the actual merge step wouldn't be hugely difficult, but you'd end up with a library book record with no formats at all.

Calibre already has various options available for merging records, have you explored them already?

I just don't see the point...
