The other "problem" is the directory name. The use of a date in it is actually fairly new. They used to use all sorts of things but apparently the person creating them was a hockey fan.
In any case the URL doesn't matter. It isn't really for public consumption. It is intended to only be used by the device or the desktop application to download the firmware. The API tells the device what the URL is and they could generate something different each time if they wanted to. They could easily use something random, but it is probably simpler on their server to do something meaningful.
