Sony mentions in the manual that storing the pen “near” the device may impact battery life, I’m not sure how smart the pen is. Mine keeps a charge for at least a week without use and is still full afterwards. I store the pen in the DPTA-RC1 cover (picture here) so pretty close but to the side.
