By "fluid" I assume you mean reflowable, as opposed to fixed-layout.

The Kindle Previewer converts images to JPEG format and reduces large images to 1920 pixels on the longest dimension, which is high enough resolution for most purposes.

You will need to provide enough information for me to duplicate the problem, such as an example, for me to be able to help you. (Please do not post any copyrighted material.)
