Jacques Futrelle is best known for his Thinking Machine detective stories, but he also wrote several short novels in various genres. He was a also a victim of the Titanic in 1912, which cut short his burgeoning writing career.
This is a romantic comedy, published in 1908.
I have reconstructed the original cover from an image in which the gold-leaf lettering was almost invisible, replacing it with a white text which closely matched the original.
