This patch doesn't exist for fw 4.8.11090. However, there is a semi-workaround if you have another Kobo where the patch
is enabled.
In the [Reading] section of the .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf file of your other Kobo (I used my GloHD) you'll see lines like

readingFontSharpness\AGaramond=0.12
readingFontWeight\AGaramond=0.56
Just manually copy all of these, as-is, to the [Reading] section of the ClaraHD's .conf file.
This will give you the boldness/sharpness you just won't be able to adjust them interactively via sliders.
